Norwich Web Designer
Okay, this is actually my old freelance portfolio from before Little Bird took flight. I still love the pug though (who can resist his little squashed up face and wheezy breathing?) so I’ve included it here. It’s also a good representation of work from my freelance career.

3D Flash animation
The static Envisage logo lent itself towards 3D since it appears to be made up of multiple images. I used Papervision to break apart the logo since 3D rendering enabled a much more realistic animation of the logo spinning apart than non-3D Flash animation techniques were capable of.

The Norwich Wine Festival website
www.norwichwinefestival.org.uk
- Consultancy
- Creative design
- Web development:
(XHTML / CSS / jQuery) - HTML email design / broadcast
- Graphic design of printed materials
Norwich’s first wine festival needed an accessible website to provide detailed festival information and allow site users to book places on festival events and purchase festival tickets online. The creative brief for the site was simple – the site needed to look elegant and contemporary while conveying the visual message of wine and Norwich.
Integration with social media was essential for the site, so the festival’s Twitter messages were chosen to be displayed on every page of the site in a dynamically updating widget. Twitter played an important part in the festival’s promotion and was used to keep people informed of the latest festival developments. PayPal provided the shopping cart for online sales, with each page containing a clear call-to-action to buy tickets online.
Google maps are used to plot the locations of the various venues across Norwich that are participating in the festival so that festival goers can easily pinpoint any bars or restaurants that they may be unfamiliar with. JQuery was chosen to provide a sliding panel on the home page that displays the site’s key messages on a timed rotation. The festival site contains multiple forms and jQuery was also used to provide validation and error handling for the forms, reducing the risks of the festival organisers receiving incorrect data through the booking form and helping site users to fill out the form correctly.
In addition to designing and developing the festival website, Little Bird also designed all the printed promotional material for the festival – including flyers, posters, tickets and information booklets.
